It has been a little over a month since I had stepped away from 8balloons and there is good reason to it. Typically, when I have stepped away for less then a week, I have always felt a little guilty. This time, it has been the longest I have gone since writing. In June I came up with another one of my crazy ideas, but this time I knew it was different. It was to create an app that could have only come to me from the love I have for my online community and blog. I knew I could bring it to fruition, which is exactly what I have been working on ever since. I cannot wait to share this creation with you, since it is because of this blog and readers I created it. There are many exciting parts to this idea that I will be sharing soon. For now, my inspiration is to continue to create, and these quotes have helped me along the way. I hope they can inspire you as well! (more…)
Recently I was reminiscing about all the great memories of states I have had the opportunity to live and visit. As I was searching for a unique way to remember these memories, I came across these beautiful illustrations of all the states by Kelsey Oseid of Kelzuki. Kelsey illustrates each state according to patterns and colors found on the state’s official bird. Now I can be reminded of the below states daily and that fills my heart with happiness!
I have decided to make August a month dedicated to focusing on work and side projects. With that said, I have been occupying the little free time I have with fun printables to surround me in the meantime. Enjoy!

Buy Olympia has always been a go-to site for me when it comes to fun purchases and discovering new artists. A few weeks ago I saw the below print entitled, Elephant Stories and I was smitten! I had to know more about who created this and just knew I would enjoy everything else this artist designed. His name is Tae Won Yu and he has designed everything from book covers, record covers, to posters. It even turns out I have seen his work for many years since he has created record covers for one of my all time favorite bands, Built To Spill. His work stands out to me with his choice of colors, illustration, typography, and how he combines letterpress with photography. Below are some of my favorite prints he has designed and can be found on Buy Olympia. I have also included his site to see more of his originals.

Inspirational prints and the artists who create them have become one of my favorite items to search for. I try to find quotes that I can relate to and always have on hand when and if I need to repeat it to myself if I hit a bump in the road. I hope you enjoy these and the start of your today.
For me, this year has been about renewal of creativity! With my day job, writing my book, this blog, and the other everyday craziness, it has been very busy thus far! With that said, I have been becoming very aware of my surroundings and what brings me inspiration. With what does not attribute to inspiration or in other words, positivity, I have been slowly but surely getting rid of. I think sometimes aesthetics definitely attribute to your well being. When you surround yourself around the things and people you love, you will inevitably feel uplifted. I know, I know, I just sounded very self-help like, but it’s true!
I have recently started planning my personal work space to be more of who I am and include things that only help to inspire me. As much as I have been hoarding letterpress pieces and other fun pieces like a marionette my boyfriend surprised me with (I will be posting on it shortly!), I have really been interested in a few inspirational quote prints. When I say inspirational prints, I am not discussing the huge pictures in stark, cold, and rigid offices that say, “SUCCESS” or “ACTION”. I really hate those! I am describing beautiful prints that I would want anyways, but with quotes that I could really relate with and still don’t take away from the image itself.
I own the Let Go print but I just love the one below (hint, hint anyone?). I’m attracted to the colors and whimsical elements of her pieces.
What can you say, they keep it simple and to the point
Lame pun?
I like the typography used and the worn turquoise background.
I have discussed this studio previously with their postcards. I love the saying, “Let yourself be wrong”. Just showing you to overlook your fear and try your passion.
I like the humor in their pieces.
