Travis's proposal note to Elizabeth
I have mentioned my friend Elizabeth’s upcoming wedding previously in other posts when I see something that she could use. I really am not the traditional wedding type but I do love letterpress invitations, save the dates, and so on. Any reason to look at paper is good enough for me! As much as I want to post on so many of these fun topics I don’t see how when I am not experiencing the “rush” myself or can give you the reader a better understanding of the topics. So it is only fitting to have Elizabeth post every Friday on her paper finds and buys for her wedding. We promise to keep it around paper and other creative subjects! Readers meet Elizabeth, Elizabeth meet your readers…
Hearing a bride tell her story of how her groom proposed always intrigued me. It led me to wonder, what would my story be? How will I be asked? Well, as of December 23rd, I can now say I have my story. I could go on for several pages explaining the evening as it happened, down to what I was wearing and what I ate for dinner as it is a night I will always remember, but I’ll spare you the details. The climax of my story came about just as Travis, my now fiance, took to one knee, and he handed me a folded piece of paper (which I am now having framed
) that simply asked, “Elizabeth, Will you marry me?”, followed by a choice of two boxes for checking, “Yes” or “Yes.” (I do love his sense of humor!) It wasn’t until after I came down from my “high” and it all started to sink in that I asked myself, “How am I going to do this!?” Plan a wedding, that is. It always just seemed to me that couples get engaged then suddenly a year or so later I am at their wedding, but I’ve never really thought of how it all comes together, how much planning is really involved. I am quickly starting to understand that it is not as magical as it all appears, especially without professional planning help. Who knew there was an actual time line of things to do 12 months out, 9 months out and so on?! Like a ticking time bomb to the big day! It’s all a bit overwhelming since I will be doing most, if not all, of my planning on my own, well with the help of family and friends of course. But it seems that organizing from the beginning will play a large role in everything coming together the way I envision it. This alone may present a challenge as my personal life is not so neatly organized, to say the least. And so my first challenge is presented, getting organized. Since my story started with a piece of paper, it is only fitting that it continue with all things paper, starting with a wedding organizer!
There are so many great ones out there that I literally spent over an hour at the book store, sitting on the floor with planners spread all around me gaining no more knowledge than when I walked in. Well, by the time I was done I was so confused that I didn’t purchase any that day. I took my hunt online and have now narrowed it down to these lucky few:
Russel+Hazel Wedding Organizer
Loving this one… “designed around a binder so you can easily add and remove pages”, it comes with its own adhesive note sets, 2 business card holder pages, and free downloadable worksheets to add on to it!

Kikki.K’s organizer appealed to me because of its simplicity. I also love its elastic band closure (to keep all my random notes I am bound to make from falling out) and the pockets!
