While searching the Carrie Can Shop filled with beautiful paper goods, I happily stumbled across the Emergency Kit: The Male Edition and couldn’t contain my smile and laughter. This kit is such a great idea and so true to form. With all the holidays coming up, this is perfect for all the men. So how does it work, should we send them the link or hope they find this?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have had such supportive friends during the beginning stages of 8Balloons. One of those friends was Cristy Flores, who eventually became one of my favorite guest bloggers. Cristy always had an eye for fashion and could make anything ordinary look unique. It wasn’t shocking when she told me about her new design venture, California Ave. with her friend Carly. California Ave. pairs their love of colorful designs with jewelry and other fun accessories. Everything from the simple, yet distinct packaging to the eclectic mixture of pieces makes me oh so happy.

I was fortunate a year ago to meet one of Elizabeth’s best friends, Heather Fleshman. I love Heather’s sense of humor.  She is always able to brighten my day with her quick witJust when I thought Heather couldn’t get any better, I recently found out she is a jewelry designer and a fellow craft enthusiast. Um hello! Her pieces are all hand beaded accessories pulled together with wires of varying gauges rather than typical string. Each piece is one of a kind, just like her. I hope you enjoy her pieces as much as I do!

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? I am in the process of making my list and checking it twice to see who has been naughty or nice {sorry, I always wanted to write that}. I said previously that I wanted to support the handmade community more for the holidays this year and find some wonderful gifts from Etsy. I talked about this with Cristy and she agreed with me that you could find more personalized and thoughtful gifts this way. Below are some of Cristy’s favorite Etsy  finds to give as gifts this year. Hmmm maybe she is trying to tell something to her boyfriend {hint, hint!}.

Thirty Something Drama Queen

I am surprised at how fast this week has past by. This may be due to the fact that I am working nonstop and my days are blending into one another. It’s funny because just a few months ago I was hoping for more creative outlets and work and now I have been consumed with work and not as much time for the book I am working on. (more…)

I am in the market for a new memory board/visual board. I have been wanting one for a few months now, but I didn’t  know where to begin searching. The solution to my search was simple: Etsy. I was relieved to find that I am not that crazy and others share this need and want as well. Although I view a high volume of web and digital content, I prefer the more organic experience of paper and print. I like to be able to see everything that inspires me for a project on one board. It helps me to envision the idea better.
Etsy has numerous finds for memory/visual boards, but I found myself continuing to go back to one artist specifically, ShugabeeLane. I love ShugabeeLane’s simplicity and fabric choosings. There were two others I found as well from ArtRecycles and Bowtique Boards. I adored the patterns of both these companies. I have posted a few that I am choosing from, so let me know your thoughts!
