Be The Quote: Inspiration

Success

These quotes might seem melancholy, but I promise you they are the most uplifting. These quotes to me represent what it is to have an idea and step out of your comfort zone to see it to fruition. I have had many over the past three years and I have sought out each one and continue to fully. I use to think that you should focus solely on one idea and if it doesn’t “make it”, then you failed. But in the past six months, I would have to argue the complete opposite. We are programmed to believe that an idea is only a success if you bring it to life. I would disagree and say that by believing that, you limit yourself to that one idea and never are able to see the bigger picture or what path(s) that idea can bring you to that you didn’t even know existed. It’s kind of like a resume. You may have not thought that first job would have taught you anything, until you reached the fourth job four years later and had a bit more knowledge in a certain area because of that “one meaningless job” four years before.

My blog was the catalyst to me writing a book. That blog and book idea brought me to to creating an online startup. Even if my startup is not fully complete, that idea connected me to some amazing people that have become dear to me and have taught me so much. It’s important to also not limit your purpose and always keep an open mind so that those pathways can find their way to you. Here’s to a great weekend and hopefully many more inspiring ideas!

To Do's

You may already be familiar with my obsession for free downloadable printables. I have collected my favorites along with my friend Carolyn Rubenstein on our shared Pinterest Board and every so often I like to share them on 8Balloons too. I hope you enjoy and it adds a bit of fun organization to your week!

Be The Quote

Monday, November 12th, 2012

It has been a little over a month since I had stepped away from 8balloons and there is good reason to it. Typically, when I have stepped away for less then a week, I have always felt a little guilty. This time, it has been the longest I have gone since writing. In June I came up with another one of my crazy ideas, but this time I knew it was different. It was to create an app that could have only come to me from the love I have for my online community and blog. I knew I could bring it to fruition, which is exactly what I have been working on ever since. I cannot wait to share this creation with you, since it is because of this blog and readers I created it. There are many exciting parts to this idea that I will be sharing soon. For now, my inspiration is to continue to create, and these quotes have helped me along the way. I hope they can inspire you as well! (more…)

Be the Quote:Letterpress Prints

Monday, August 6th, 2012

Some of my favorite posts on 8Balloons are when I get to share inspiration for Be The Quote. However, not always are these images I post tangible. This time around, I wanted to include my favorite letterpress shops to showcase their beautiful prints. Hopefully they will inspire you for the rest of the week!

Happiness Visualized

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

It has been awhile since I have had time to post a Happiness Visualized, which only means even more updates to share! This week I am loving all the sweet moments this past month and a few pretty things acquired along the way. What has been inspiring you lately?

The above picture is a re-edit of my 8Balloons photo by my fellow Bostonian/friend/rapper Grover, and I couldn’t be happier! He is turning into quite the photographer and editor amongst his other talents.

Who says you can’t celebrate your best friend’s birthday if they aren’t in the same state? I went out with a friend and they ordered me a huge cotton candy/gummi bear contraption with raspberry cake so we could at least take a picture and text my best friend on his special day :)

My friend Merryl saw this idea online and decided to make a few funny cards for both her and I.

My dear friend Amanda and her fiancé Brian had such a beautiful engagement party earlier this month. At the end of the night, they gave out these awesome Save the Dates. Each slide shows a picture of the couple with information about the wedding date and location. What a brilliant idea!

Every morning my friends/baristas always leave a special note on my cup. It’s a great way to start the day!

Monday’s Makers: Printables

Sunday, June 24th, 2012

One of my favorite past times is finding useful printables for my daily needs. For the most part, these printables are calendars and to-do lists for everyday planning. When I find fun printable projects I can get crafty with I am even more thrilled! Right now I am loving the above post-it calendar. Hello! Calendar+post-its! I am also excited for another Scout Creative calendar of the month that I can’t wait to put together. The other printables below are for your accessory heart and some pretty art for your phone. Enjoy!

Q&A with Bridgett Edwards of Perideau Designs

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

I first stumbled upon Perideau Designs a year ago after finding their organizing printables so helpful. Perideau Designs then became my daily go-to for all the fun, modern, and clean stationary designs offered. The woman behind this beautiful brand is Bridgett Edwards. She is a wife, mother, business owner, and all around extremely creative woman whose work I adore. I always wanted to reach out to her and ask for a q&a, and when I finally did she was so generous to reach back and agree!

What led you to create Perideau Designs?

I’ve always loved creating and drawing so after realizing planning weddings wasn’t my niche, I turned to creating accessories for parties.

As a paper lover myself, why did you choose paper as your medium?

I love the touch and feel and getting beautifully designed invitations and notecards in the mail.

Do you use paper more so than online apps to stay organized?

I tend to waiver between the 2. Right now I’m using digital apps like Things and Google calendar since they are both easy to sync between my desktop and iPhone. But I love a good ol’ fashion pen and notebook when brainstorming ideas.

How do you begin a “theme” for your party designs?

From my lovely customers. They always have the best ideas and are so creative.

Your pieces are so clean, modern, bright and colorful, what’s your favorite color?

Hands down green, hence the business name Perideau (a homophone of peridot, my green birthstone) : )

Do you ever feel “artist’s block”, and if so how do you overcome it?

All the time! I take it as a sign that I need a break from work and go play with my children, workout or design for fun.

How would you describe your style?

Simple, clean, modern and fun

What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

My family. We’re a bunch of goofballs.

You’re a very busy woman, how do you stay so organized and how does it help you achieve your success?

I don’t like to stay still. I need to have an agenda, a direction so to speak, to function. I tend to get “lost” if I go with the flow.

I discuss artist’s “creative spaces” a lot on the blog, can you describe yours and how you like to keep it?

We turned our bonus room into an office. I use 2/3 of the space and my husband uses 1/3. We painted the walls a khaki with a green accent wall. I need to work in an organized space so everything has it’s place. My workspace mimics my design aesthetic so it’s very inspirational.

Thanks again Bridgett!

Be The Quote

Monday, June 18th, 2012

I am back and I have missed you all! I didn’t realize how much this little space on the internet actually meant to me and others until I stepped away for a few weeks. I felt a little guilty not posting daily and then it became weekly, but I am happy to say 8Balloons is now back! It has been a busy few weeks, but that still is not a good enough excuse. A big reason for the absence started almost a month ago. I had a light bulb moment (don’t you love those?!), and I focused all my energy on how to make that “light bulb” idea come to fruition. This idea came from the love I have for the blog community and I cannot wait to see if this little idea becomes reality. For now, I can’t say 8Balloons will be a daily posting, but I can say there will be no more once a week posts. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s start this week off with some of my favorite quotes right now.

Have you ever had an idea that felt so right and you wanted to do something to create it? If so, how did you do it? If you haven’t yet, maybe these quotes will resonate with you and give you that push you need. Here is to a great beginning of the week!

P.S. Thank you to all the readers who emailed me throughout the weeks about the blog. Your kind words meant the world to me!

Monday’s Makers: DIY Printables for June

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

I find it helpful to stay organized and actually commit to a project when you plan for it in advance. My project this coming month is to get back to my organizational routines. To achieve this, I thought I’d post some of the fun DIY printables created by my favorite blogs a few days in advance so you could enjoy them too!
