While I may be at this very moment stress-eating chocolate as a means of coping with the holiday season that is rapidly descending upon us, I must admit that it’s one of my fave times of the year. The holidays give me a great reason to do something I am super fond of – send cards to pretty much everyone I know! I thought I’d share a few of the cards that I’m sending out (or hoping to receive) this season.
Ashley of Flakes Paperie has a gorgeous aesthetic. Her screen printed cards are lovingly illustrated, nostalgic and witty. Her mid-century modern designs are some of my faves – the use metallic ink and the pop of coral-red is simply perfect. Ashley’s wintery designs evoke the holiday season here in Canada (and beyond) with toques and thermoses filled with warmth.
I love the idea of sending out postcards for the holidays, and the ever beautiful Quill & Fox enables me to do just that (these cards and postcards are little pieces of art). Designer Yas Imamura hand paints her designs using vintage colour palettes and motifs.
There’s nothing more classic than letterpress, just type on paper, and the delightful feel of inked words on a heavy stock. Of Note Stationers have a series of holiday designs, which also feature New Year’s cards (I’ll save that for another post, but adore the idea of sending cards to wish friends and family well for the year to come!) and tags.
