Hi there 8 Balloons readers! My name is Hetal and I blog over at Pretty Polymath! I typically like to write about food, traveling and whatever else catches my fancy! When Julie asked me to do a fall inspired guest post for her I immediately thought of PSL aka Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Every year Starbucks gains almost half my paycheck due to their delicious and undeniable beverage.
Just one little sip can make you feel like you’re walking through a pile of leaves all bundledup in a wool scarf with your leggings and Uggz on. Since this year everyone is saying PSLs have now become too mainstream I decided to take pumpkin spice up a notch and make it into a delicious buttery caramel sauce. Perfect for putting on ice cream, coffee, cake, and fingers for licking.
Fall also brings lots of dinner parties and get togethers for me and I hate going to someone’s house empty handed. This is the perfect gift to give the pumpkin spice lovers in your life. Also how adorable are these Mooseberry PSL tags Julie found?!
The sauce is super easy to make and takes all of 15 minutes! Try it for yourself and give it as a gift or eat it all by yourself…no one is judging
Cook time: 15 minutes Makes: 1 small 8 ounce jar
1⁄2 cup heavy cream
1⁄4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1⁄2 tbsp. vanilla extract
1⁄4 tsp cinnamon
Pinch salt
1 tsp pumpkin spice
Add all the ingredients except the pumpkin spice into a medium sized sauce pan and melt over medium-low heat. Whisk continuously for 10-15 minutes until the sauce has thickened. I like to dip a spoon into it and let it cool to see if it is thickening.
Turn off the stove and whisk in the pumpkin spice. You can now pour it into an 8 oz mason jar and refrigerate for later or start smothering everything in sight with it and stuffing it into your mouth….your choice. Enjoy!
P.S You can keep up with Hetal!
